A round up of Local News in Redcar and Cleveland for 11th November 2015.

There has been confirmation from Business Minister Anna Soubry, that any unspent redundancy and pensions funding will be spent in the region and not be given back to the Treasury. Anna raised the issue in Business Questions in the chamber this lunchtime after being told by civil service officials last week that any remaining funding from the £30 million allocation for redundancy and pensions payments, which was taken out of the £80 million overall support package, would be returned to government coffers.

 

Police are appealing for information after a collision involving five vehicles occurred on Loftus Bank on the A174. It occurred on Monday at around 6:30pm and a black Toyota Rav4, a blue Volkswagen Touran, a blue Vauxhall Corsa, a black Toyota Yaris and a black Renault Clio were all involved in the incident. The 54-year-old male driver of the Toyota Rav4 was taken to James Cook University Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries to his back. The driver and passenger of the Renault Clio made off from the scene, leaving a light brown coloured Staffordshire Bull Terrier in the vehicle.

Police are appealing for the driver and passenger of the black Clio to come forward. Anyone with information regarding the collision or anyone who witnessed it is asked to contact PC Neil Foster from the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit on the non-emergency number 101, quoting event number 199160.

 

Police are also appealing for information following another collision involving a Kawasaki motorbike, which occurred on Birchington Avenue, Whale Hill, at the roundabout junction of Farndale Walk in Eston on Monday afternoon. The incident occurred around 3:30pm and a result, the 37-year-old male rider of the motorbike suffered a suspected broken leg and was taken to James Cook University Hospital where he is in stable condition.

Anyone with information regarding the collision or anyone who witnessed it is asked to contact PC Stephen Tait from the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit on the non-emergency number 101, quoting event number 199160.
