A woman has been left with head injuries following a robbery yesterday evening in Eston.

The incident took place on Sandsend Road at around 9.25pm. 

The victim was walking a dog along with another male when a man approached her and grabbed her bag, pulling her to the floor. The suspect then made off through an alley which leads to Birchington Avenue.

She was left bleeding and was taken to James Cook University Hospital where she remains today receiving treatment. Her injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The suspect is described as male, aged in his late teens to early twenties. He was wearing a dark hooded jacket. 

The stolen bag contained a book, a dog lead and treats.
