They help to keep their local High Street busy right throughout the year.

Now a host of community-spirited independent shops in Marske are teaming up to create their own Market in the heart of town as part of a fun-packed day for all the family on Saturday 22 August.

With around two months of major gas works affecting the roads in the centre now complete, the day will be a fantastic opportunity to showcase local shops, demonstrating that Marske is definitely open for business as usual!

Shoppers of all ages can look forward to a fancy-dress motorbike parade, a treasure hunt, an under 12’s fancy dress competition, face painting, a prize raffle, cream teas, and live music by celebrated local musician Mike Lockey.

Children will also love the chance to sit in a fire engine, Mickey & Minnie Mouse will be enjoying the fun, and even the local canine community will be melting hearts with their own dog’s fancy dress competition. And, right at the heart of the fun, local traders will be setting up stalls and bringing their own shops out into the open air for the day.

One of the organisers, Computer and IT specialist Garry Stonehouse of GbizIT said: 'We’re lucky here in Marske to have so many good local shops and businesses that help keep the High Street and the town centre feeling good day in day out right throughout the year. It’s all part and parcel of Marske being such a nice place to be, and all the shops here feel proud to be part of such a strong community, so we thought we’d team up and create a special day for people of all ages to enjoy, and we’re all looking forward to a top day.'

Marske Traders Day takes place in Marske town centre between 10am-4pm next Saturday. For further info, visit www.marsketraders.co.uk
