An art exhibition has been launched in Kirkleatham Museum to display the work of painter Andrew Hutchinson.

Paintings that represent the everyday surrounding nature and wildlife are available for viewing at the Museum until October 2015.

Goatsuckers, Nadders and other Beasties is aptly named after the fantastical terms given to wildlife, with the “goatsucker” being the rare night-flying bird, the nightjar, and the “nadder” now better known as the venomous adder.

Mr Hutchinson, who was born in Guisborough, has exhibited his work among the world’s best wildlife artists, and has been commissioned by top companies such as Penguin Books, Harper Collins, Land Rover, Barclays Bank and the New York Botanical Gardens.

Cllr Carl Quartermain, cabinet member for jobs, skills and leisure at Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council said:

“We are delighted Mr Hutchinson’s talent and creative artwork is being exhibited at Kirkleatham Museum for the next few months.

“With the arrival of the school holidays this is a perfect opportunity to take the whole family to see Goatsuckers, Nadders and other Beasties, as well as the other fantastic exhibitions the museum has on offer.”

Admission for the exhibition is free, and opening times for Kirkleatham Museum are Tuesday – Sunday 10am-5pm.
