High Tides Means Change To Triathlon Start Time
Competitors and spectators are urged to make note of the revised start time for this year’s Redcar Sprint Triathlon.
The event this Sunday, July 26, will now be brought forward an hour to 10.00am to coincide with the higher tide on the morning.
With the high tide coming in earlier than forecast, organisers Trihard – along with Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council - made the decision to bring the start time forward an hour in the interests of safety for competitors who are already braving what will no doubt be a cold North Sea.
Councillor Carl Quartermain, Cabinet Member for Jobs, Skills, and Leisure said: “The decision to move the start time of the Redcar Sprint Triathlon to 10.00am wasn’t one that was taken lightly, but ourselves and Trihard had to make sure that competitors aren’t put at risk from what can be a rapidly rising tide.
“We hope that as many people as possible can come down to Redcar seafront for what promises to be a great event and a good day out for all the family.”
