Guisborough Forest and Walkway is to play host to a summer of live performances promising fun for all ages.

Starting with The Jungle Book on Saturday, June 27 the Forest & Walkway will play host to performances including, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Treasure Island and an adaptation of David Walliams’ acclaimed book Mr Stink.

The Sorcerer’s Apprentice is performed on July 18 (with illusions created by the magician Paul Daniels) with the latter three shows form an August triple-header of entertainment. Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream is brought to life on August 5, Treasure Island just under a week later on August 11 with Mr Stink rounding off a summer of theatrical delights on August 26.

All the shows are being hosted in Guisborough Forest & Walkway’s newly opened outdoor amphitheatre which was built by staff and apprentices at Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council with support from volunteers.

The amphitheatre provides an atmospheric venue for outdoor performances with seating for 80-100 theatre-goers under the stars.

Cllr Carl Quartermain, Cabinet Member for Jobs, Skills and Leisure, said: “This quartet of productions will provide fun for all the family with something to enjoy for visitors young and old.

“The council is very pleased that well-known companies like The Handlebards and The Pantaloons want to bring their own unique twist on iconic plays to our borough. We hope as many people as possible can come down and enjoy all the events.”
