Following a fatal collision in Hemlington, police are releasing images of a vehicle similar to one involved in the incident in an attempt to bring witnesses forward.

An 18-year-old man who was charged in connection with the collision appeared at Teesside Magistrates Court yesterday (Thursday 30th October) and was remanded in custody.

Officers believe that a silver Hyundai Santa Fe, allegedly linked to the collision, may have been driven around the Hemlington area in the hours leading up to the incident. 

The vehicle was allegedly stolen at around 10pm on Monday 27th October from the Stainton area.

The collision took place at around 7.30pm on Tuesday 28th October at the junction of Cass House Road and Fordyce Road, and involved a silver Ford Fiesta and a silver Hyundai Santa Fe which had been reported stolen on the morning of the collision.

Sadly, 39-year-old Andrew Corfield, the driver of the silver Ford Fiesta, died at the scene. A 17-year-old female passenger travelling in the Fiesta remains in James Cook University Hospital in a critical but stable condition.

Any one who may have seen a vehicle similar to this one in the Hemlington area on the evening of Monday 27th or during Tuesday 28th October is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101, quoting event number 190341.
