A motorcyclist has suffered “life-changing injuries” in a “serious” crash.
The collision happened at 1.40pm on Saturday at Blakey Ridge.
It involved a black Suzuki motorcycle and a grey Kia Niro car.
The motorcycle was travelling north towards Castleton, and the Kia was travelling south towards Kirkbymoorside. The motorcycle rider, a 77-year-old man from York, was taken to hospital with life-changing injuries, where he remains in stable condition.
The occupants of the Kia were uninjured.
The road was closed for a number of hours while North Yorkshire Police investigated the scene and to allow the vehicles involved to be recovered.
Any witnesses to the collision, anyone who may have seen the vehicles prior to the collision, or anyone with relevant dashcam footage, is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on the non-emergency number 101.
The Mayor of Redcar and Cleveland has welcomed friends from our borough’s twin area of Troisdorf in Germany.
The visit earlier this month was designed to celebrate the 34th anniversary of Redcar and Cleveland Twinning Association and the borough’s Mayor, Cllr Neil Bendelow, invited Troisdorf’s two Deputy Mayors to see a Middlesbrough FC match – as guests of the club - during the delegation’s free time.
The Mayor was gifted a cuddly Hennes the Goat, mascot of FC Cologne, Troisdorf’s local team, in return.
A total of 24 people visited from Germany, including three young people, with the majority staying with host families in Redcar & Cleveland.
Highlights included a reception in the Mayor’s Parlour, trips to the Land of Iron Museum in Skinningrove and Loftus Town Hall, Hartlepool Maritime and Shildon Railway museums, a celebratory meal at the Spa Hotel in Saltburn and a canal-boat trip at Skipton in North Yorkshire.
It's been announced that the mobile Covid vaccination clinic is coming back to Redcar and Cleveland.
The first stop for the mobile clnic will be at Longacre Pub on Pheasant Fields Lane in Skelton on Friday 1st November, from 10am until 4pm.
The vaccine will be available for all eligible groups, including children under 16 who are at risk of COVID-19, adults aged 65 or over, and those who are immunosuppressed.
There is no need to book a time, members of the public can just walk in to receive their vaccination.
