Officers in Middlesbrough have seized counterfeit perfumes in Middlesbrough town centre.

A man was seen in the town centre on Friday with the counterfeit goods, which he was suspected of attempting to sell to members of the public.

They were recovered and handed across to Middlesbrough Council's Trading Standards team.

A spokesperson said that if legitimate, the goods could have been worth up to around £1,000, however, they were likely to be sold and were not as described.

Any counterfeit perfumes which are seen being sold in the town will be confiscated and handed over to Trading Standards to progress enquiries.

A man has appeared in court after being charged with firearms offences following an armed police drama in Guisborough.

33-year-old Steven Bremner of Raithwate Close in the town, appeared in court yesterday.

He was charged with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and possession of ammunition for a firearm without a certificate.

His court appearance follows an incident in Guisborough on Wednesday last week, where teams of armed police and uniform officers went to Union Street around 10.10am.

Police said no-one was injured in the incident and later confirmed several arrests had been made, including one man for attempted murder and another for conspiracy to commit murder.

Additionally, two women were also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

The force has yet to issue an update in relation to these.

It's been announced that guided tours of the 2,500-acre Teesworks development site are to be offered to the public.

From next month, people will be able to see the work going on at the former steelworks site on the south bank of the River Tees and progress being made on transforming Teesworks into a green energy hub and national centre for Net Zero industries.

The tours come following an independent report - commissioned by Teesworks Ltd - which outlined the economic impact the development is set to create.

The first tours are scheduled for November 1 and November 8, with two guided tours taking place on each date.
