Police have appealed for the public's help after woman was seriously injured in a collision in Middlesbrough.

The collision involved a grey Vauxhall Astra and two pedestrians, a 32-year-old woman and a young girl.

The incident happened just before 5pm on Friday, when the Vauxhall astra was travelling on Longlands Road towards Marton Road and collided with the woman and a young girl.

The girl sustained scratches and bruises and was checked over at hospital then discharged.

The woman remains in James Cook University Hospital in a serious condition.

The road was closed for several hours whilst emergency services dealt with the incident and conducted enquires at the scene.

Any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police, and anyone with dashcam, private CCTV or mobile phone footage is asked to contact Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.

A woman has been charged in connection with shop theft in Redcar.

Whilst on patrol at the weekend, officers from Redcar’s Neighbourhood Policing Team were made aware of reports of a shop theft at B&M on Regents Walk in Redcar.

Officers arrested a 38-year-old woman who was subsequently charged with theft from a shop.

She was conditionally bailed until her next appearance at Teesside Magistrates’ Court.

Police have seized a nuisance modified vehicle in Redcar.

Officers seized the car earlier this week after it was issued with a Section 59 notice.

These notices are given to drivers of vehicles being used in a manner which causes alarm, distress or annoyance.

The vehicle owner has now had the vehicle seized for the second time due to being issued three such notices in less than 12 months.

The car’s also being checked over by a vehicle examiner as modifications - which have led to an extremely loud exhaust - have not been disclosed to the insurance company and this could lead to consequences for the policy holder.

Police say that they will continue to take action against the use of antisocial or illegal vehicles on the roads in our area.
