Redcar and Cleveland neighbourhood policing officers have thanked residents and partner agency colleagues after Operation Artemis was carried out in the district yesterday.
District Commander for Redcar and Cleveland, Superintendent Emily Harrison, spoke to Zetland FM about the operation.
Police are appealing for information after a robbery in Coulby Newham, Middlesbrough.
The incident happened around 7:15pm on Sunday when the victim, a man aged in his forties, was robbed of a back pack at the bus lane on Dalby Way.
The suspect and victim alighted from the same bus, the number 12 Stagecoach, before the suspect pushed the man to the floor and was verbally abusive before forcibly stealing his backpack – a blue Fred Perry bag with white stitching around the edges and pockets.
The suspect is described as a white male, around 6ft tall, of proportionate build, wearing a light-coloured shell tracksuit.
He then made off towards the Parkway Day Nursery on Cropton Way.
Any witnesses to the incident or anyone with further information is asked to contact Middlesbrough CID on 101.
The volunteers of the Redcar RNLI lifeboat have been called into action in our area.
At around 1pm on Monday the Redcar D Class lifeboat was launched after being tasked to assist with an incident at Middlesbrough Dock swing bridge area.
The lifeboat proceeded to the area and provided assistance with the incident before being stood down at around ten to two.
The crew were then able to return safely to the Lifeboat Station at Redcar.
