Weapons and drugs have been removed from the streets of Grangetown during proactive patrols by officers at the weekend.

Officers from the Cleveland Police Proactive Team stopped a 19-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy on Saturday evening and searched them both.

The 15-year-old boy was found to have a Kinder egg containing class A drugs and a machete during the search and was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a class A drug, and possession of a bladed article.

Officers arrested the 19-year-old on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of drugs, and a subsequent search of his home unveiled suspected class A drugs and equipment relating to the supply of drugs.

During their arrest, both the 19-year-old and the 15-year-old were racially abusive towards one of the officers present, and both were further arrested for racially aggravated public order offences.

Following questioning in police custody, they were both released on bail pending further enquiries.

Two electric motorbikes have been seized in Middlesbrough after they were spotted by Proactive Team officers on patrol.

On Friday evening officers spotted a motorbike on Forber Road, with two male riders – neither of them wearing helmets.

One rider was detained a short distance away.

A 17-year-old boy was reported for summons for driving with no licence or insurance and the bike was seized.

Then on Saturday officers spotted another bike on Chippenham Road, being ridden illegally.

Officers seized the bike after locating it at an address.

The bike was not road legal and will now be disposed of by police.

Anyone with information regarding illegal bikes, where they may be being stored and those riding them, is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101.
