Residents of the Longbeck ward in East Cleveland have elected a new Councillor.
Conservative Stephen Crane has taken the vacant seat after gaining the most votes in the election, which took place on Thursday.
Mr Crane received 384 votes with his next nearest challenger - Labour’s Jane Bradley - picking up 206 votes.
Mr Crane joins current Conservative incumbent, Councillor Vera Rider in representing Longbeck on the council.
Police have uncovered a cannabis farm in Middlesbrough.
The farm was located by Middlesbrough's neighbourhood team officers on Thursday.
Officers attended a property on Fulwood Avenue and located three rooms containing dozens of cannabis plants.
No one was arrested in connection with the plants, however, enquiries are ongoing.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.
Cleveland Fire Brigade has bid a fond farewell to its longstanding Chief Fire Officer, Ian Hayton, on Friday after an impressive 49 years of service.
Mr Hayton joined the brigade in 1975, when it was still known as Cleveland County Fire Brigade.
Throughout his tenure, he has contributed his expertise to various aspects including strategic and operational Incident Command, risk management, fire safety, HR, health & safety, performance management, among others.
During a special ceremony complete with a personalised cake, banners and bunting, Cleveland Fire Authority Chair Councillor David Coupe expressed his gratitude.
Peter Rickard has been named the new Chief Fire Officer and is set to lead the Brigade forward in its mission to deliver the best prevention, protection, and emergency response services to the Teesside community.
