A Redcar man has been given a three-year banning order after seriously assaulting an England supporter at the Euro 2024 tournament.
34-year-old Josh Waugh, of Conway Road in the town, attended the England vs Serbia fixture on 16th June in Germany.
After an altercation with another England fan, which was instigated by Mr Waugh, he punched the man and left him with a fractured jaw requiring surgery and a broken nose.
The victim was not known to him.
Following the incident, Mr Waugh was identified from a still image and Cleveland Police officers attended his home address in Redcar.
Mr Waugh attended Teesside Magistrates Court on Thursday where he was issued the three-year banning order.
The volunteer crews of the Redcar RNLI lifeboats have been called into action in our area following reports of a missing person in the sea.
At around quarter to midday yesterday, both the Redcar lifeboats were launched after a swimmer was reported missing somewhere between Granville Terrace in Redcar and Saltburn Pier.
A search was conducted by both lifeboats however no one was found.
Both boats then returned to the Lifeboat Station at Redcar.
Members of the public are reminded that if you think you see someone in trouble in the water you should call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council are warning residents of a footpath closure in Guisborough.
The fencing outside of Sunnyfield House in the town needs to be replaced and work is due to start this coming Monday 2md September.
The footpath near the building will need to be partially closed, but people will still be able to walk along Westgate.
To enter Sunnyfield House, the council is recommending access via the rear entrance for the duration of the work, which is expected to last for two weeks.
The council says that disruption during the time the work is taking place will be minimal.
