Cleveland Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was injured in an incident in Redcar.

Officers would appeal to anyone who may have footage or may have witnessed a blue Ford Focus reportedly driving erratically in the West Dyke Road area of Redcar between 9pm and 10:15pm on Sunday.

A 44-year-old woman suffered a broken leg when she alighted from the vehicle and was taken to hospital for treatment.

A 44-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, threats to kill and a number of driving offences and he remains on police bail whilst enquiries continue.

Anyone who may have dash cam footage, CCTV or information is asked to contact Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.

Neighbourhood Officers in Redcar have issued two section 59 notices for antisocial driving in Majuba car park.

The notices were both issued in June, and the drivers of these vehicles were 17 and 18 years old.

A section 59 notice can be issued to anyone driving in a manner which is or has been causing, or is likely to cause alarm, distress or annoyance to members of the public.

The warning is placed against both the driver and the vehicle and lasts 12 months.

Should the recipient of the notice fail to heed the warning during this time, officers can seize the vehicle.

Redcar Neighbourhood Officers say that they will continue to patrol the area and will issue further section 59 notices where appropriate.

It's General Election day, with voters going to the polls across the country and here in our area.

Polling stations are located across the Borough, and are open until 10 o'clock this evening.

Voters are being reminded that when you vote you will need to show one form of photo ID, such as a passport or driving licence, which needs to be the original version, and not a photocopy or a digital version.
