Police are appealing for witnesses to a collision in which a passenger in an ambulance was injured.

The collision happened on Ladgate Lane at around twenty to three yesterday morning, and involved a Peugeot 208 which was reported to have collided with pedestrian barriers before then colliding with a patient transport ambulance.

A 62-year-old man, who was a passenger in the patient transport ambulance, suffered fractured ribs and was taken to the James Cook University Hospital.

Another man, a 44-year-old man also travelling in the ambulance, suffered a wound to his knee and was also taken to hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Peugeot 208, a 45-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst under the influence of alcohol and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

Officers in the Redcar area have made three arrests and recovered suspected cannabis.

In separate incidents on Monday, officers from the Proactive Team suspected a teenage boy of drugs activity in the Coatham area.

A 14-year-old boy made off from officers and was found in possession of suspected cannabis.

He was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class B drugs.

A second male, aged 16, who also made off from officers, was wanted in connection with theft and was also arrested.

Both were bailed whilst further investigation is carried out.

A vehicle stop was carried out later in the day on Redcar Lane after officers again suspected drugs activity.

A 43-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class B drugs, obstruct police, no insurance and no licence.

He has since been released on bail whilst enquiries continue.

Police are appealing to trace a stolen motorbike which was taken during a burglary in the Redcar area.

The red beta motorbike was stolen in the early hours of Thursday 30th May.

It has been reported that the motorbike may have been seen in the Grangetown area, with a number of stickers which had previously been attached to the bike removed.

Anyone who may have information regarding the incident or whereabouts of the bike, is asked to contact Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.
