The volunteer crew of the Redcar RNLI lifeboat were called into action in our area yesterday.
Just before quarter to eight yesterday evening the Redcar Atlantic lifeboat was launched after reports of something floating in the water two miles north of Saltburn Pier.
The lifeboat was launched to investigate, however upon arriving at the scene the crew were able to determine that the object was a childs inflatable toy.
The lifeboat crew were then able to return to the lifeboat station at Redcar.
Members of the public are reminded that if you see something unusual in the water you should call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
Police in Redcar are continuing to crack down on nuisance vehicles in a large car park in our area.
Officers from Redcar Neighbourhood Team say they are continuing to take action against nuisance and illegal vehicles in the Majuba car park alongside Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council.
Following proactive patrols on Thursday, officers issued a section 59 notice for antisocial driving and dealt with the driver for having for a bald tyre.
Enforcement officers also dealt with two drivers for breaching a public spaces protection order.
Police say that they will continue to patrol the area and deal with any offences committed.
Crowds gathered in Redcar at the weekend to celebrate Armed Forces Day.
The event began with a parade of military personnel, both past and present, on Redcar High Street, before the official opening ceremony which was attended by the mayor and local dignitaries.
The day also featured musicians and singers, military pipes and drums, cadet drill displays and children’s activities.
The annual event was organised by Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council in partnership with Royal British Legion Redcar Branch and Rotary Club.
