A man has been charged in connection with the death of a man in Guisborough last December.

The 40-year-old will appear at Teesside Magistrates’ Court charged with causing death by careless driving, in connection with the death of Craig Dixon and his dog on Westgate in Guisborough on December 2nd last year.

The 39-year-old lost his life after being struck by a Citroen C3.

After a large emergency services response, Craig was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead a short time after the incident.

His beloved dog Duchess also lost her life incident.

Cleveland Police confirmed the charge yesterday, confirming that the man will appear at court on 21st June.

 

A man has been charged in connection with a string of offences including aggravated burglary in Marske.

The 30-year-old man, of no fixed address, was charged in the early hours of yesterday after being arrested on suspicion of affray.

He was also charged with dangerous driving, no insurance, failing to stop for police as well as an assault, aggravated burglary and possession of a knife.

Following the charge, he was remanded in custody to appear at Teesside Magistrates Court yesterday.

The charges relate to an affray that occurred on Whitby Close in Skelton on Monday.

The assault, aggravated burglary and possession of a knife is in connection with an incident that occurred on Mordales Drive in Marske on Tuesday.

 

People from across our area came together yesterday to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day.

Large crowds gathered on the Esplanade in Redcar yesterday morning to watch a display of boats arrive on Redcar beach, accompanied by the sound of gunfire and explosions.

Standard bearers from the Redcar Branch of the Royal British Legion then paraded along the esplanade accompanied by a lone bagpiper to the Redcar Beacon, where a short service was held.

It's estimated that more than a thousand people came along and took part, which was part of a programme of commemorative events which were held across the county.
