A man and a teenager have been found guilty of attempted murder, after a man was seriously injured during an incident at Middlesbrough Bus Station in November last year.
21-year-old Mohammed Amin Geravandian and a 17-year-old teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will be sentenced on 1st August.
Their 18-year-old victim sustained serious injuries, which will have a long-lasting impact upon his life.
Cleveland Police have praised the victim and witnesses in the case, and say that their bravery in standing up to give evidence has enabled them to secure the conviction.
The force say the case highlights just how devastating carrying a knife or a bladed weapon can be.
Weapons can be surrendered at amnesty bins at police stations in Middlesbrough, Stockton, Redcar and Hartlepool.
The volunteers of the Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team have been called in to action at the weekend.
The team were called out on Saturday afternoon by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust to assist them with a report of a collapsed person near to Carlton Bank.
An air ambulance had also been called and attended the scene.
However when the team arrived, they were advised by North Yorkshire Police that the casualty had sadly been pronounced dead.
Team members then transported the deceased person off the Moors, down to the roadside and into the care of the ambulance service.
Conservation works to transform Redcar Station from an empty, dilapidated building into a vibrant, more welcoming gateway to the town will begin today.
The building will function both as a leisure and retail hub as well as a key transport link, providing rail facilities including ticket machines, travel information and covered waiting areas as well as food and drink outlets throughout the day and evening.
The project, which is funded by the Government’s Levelling Up Partnership Fund, Welcome to Redcar and Cleveland fund administered via Tees Valley Mayor and Combined Authority, and the Railway Heritage Trust, will not be complete until 2025, but the public will start to see significant progress this year.
Whilst there will unfortunately be some disruption around the station for the duration of the works, including some night-time works on the trackside elevation, access to the railway platforms will remain open and signage will be in place to assist passengers getting to and from the trains.
