Police have made eight arrests following a firearms incident in our area.

Officers attended a number of addresses in the Eston area on Thursday evening, where the arrests were made in connection with an investigation into a firearms incident earlier this week.

Police received a report of a firearms incident in the early hours of Monday on Richmond Court in Grangetown.

A 40-year-old man remains in hospital with injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.

Two males aged 17 and 18 were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder; six others including a 25-year-old woman and five males aged 17, 21, 33, 43 and 45 were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

All were taken into police custody.

 

The volunteers of the Redcar RNLI lifeboat have been called into action in our area.

Just before midnight on Thursday, the Redcar Atlantic 85 lifeboat was launched to assist in a search around South Gare after a report of person seen entering the water.

Under difficult surf conditions the lifeboat and crew remained on scene until they were stood down.

The crew and lifeboat returned to the Lifeboat Station at 3.30am after no one was found.

Members of the public are reminded that if you think you have seen a person in trouble in the water you should call 999 and ask for the coastguard.

 

Three men have been arrested after suspected class A drugs and cash were recovered in Middlesbrough.

Neighbourhood Team officers attended a property on Essex Street on Thursday, where cocaine believed to be worth over £2,100 was seized, along with cash.

Males aged 24, 29 and 39 were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.

All three were taken into police custody.
