A teenager has appeared in court charged with robbery in Middlesbrough.

A report was made to police on Sunday of a knifepoint robbery on a 17-year-old boy near Middlesbrough train station.

A 16-year-old boy attended Teesside Magistrates Court yesterday charged with robbery.

He was bailed with conditions including a tag and curfew.

One person has had to be taken to hospital after a medical incident at Teesport.

Ambulance crews were called to an industrial unit on the site at 5pm on Wednesday to reports of a medical incident.

It is understood that the incident took place near the site's Tesco distribution facility - although this has not been confirmed.

The North East Ambulance Service said it sent two double-crewed ambulances and a specialist paramedic and requested support from the Great North Air Ambulance Service.

One person was then taken to the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.

No further details are available regarding the nature of the incident or the condition of the person involved.

Patients can now have more diagnostic tests closer to home thanks to the launch of a new endoscopy service at Redcar Primary Care Hospital.

Every year South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust carries out 14,000 endoscopy tests - examinations which look inside the body using a long, thin tube with a small camera inside called an endoscope.

The new dedicated clinic at Redcar Hospital will save some patients from having to travel to The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough or Friarage Hospital in Northallerton while also reducing post-pandemic waiting lists and freeing up teams at James Cook to concentrate on more complex cases.

Patients have been using the service since November, but it was officially opened yesterday.
