A teenager has appeared in court charged with arson following a blaze at a sea front shelter in Redcar.

In October 2022 emergency services were called to Redcar's beach front after a fire caused around £80,000 worth of damage to a sea front shelter.

At the time Cleveland Police said they had identified two boys as being potential suspects.

On Wednesday, a 13-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before Teesside Magistrates' Court charged with arson.

The case was adjourned until February 25 and the teenager was given unconditional bail to reappear before Teesside Magistrates' Court.
