A driver has been left with a head wound after a crash near Loftus.

Police and paramedics were called to the A174 on Saturday, around 11.35am, after reports that a car had ended up on its side.

The road was reportedly closed off following the incident, just near the Loftus Cemetery.

The North East Ambulance Service confirmed it sent one paramedic crew to the scene, where one patient was treated for a head wound before being taken to hospital.

The condition of the injured person, or how many vehicles were involved in the incident, is not currently known.

The volunteer crews of the Redcar RNLI lifeboat have been called into action twice in our area at the weekend.

Teams from the Staithes Coastguard and Redcar RNLI were paged at around 9.15 on Friday evening to an incident near to the Redcar lifeboat station following reports of a person entering the sea.

The casualty was located at the water's edge on the shoreline and was given what is described as "life-saving care."

While the condition of the casualty is currently unknown, the coastguard confirmed it assisted the Redcar RNLI crew with transporting them to a waiting ambulance.

Then on Saturday just before 8pm the D Class lifeboat was launched to conduct a search for a missing person.

A shore search was carried out by the volunteer crew.

However the lifeboat crew were stood down after the person was found safe and well elsewhere.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council are continuing to ask residents for their views on proposed changes to library services in the Borough.

As part of the Councils' ongoing libraries consultations, further drop-in sessions are being held in libraries across Redcar and Cleveland.

Sessions will take place this month at libraries throughout the borough.

In the coming weeks sessions will be held in Marske, Loftus, Ormesby, Skelton and Loftus.

Residents will have the chance to ask questions about the consultation which will be answered by a member of the council's staff.
