Police in Middlesbrough have discovered a cannabis farm worth more than £350,000 at an address in Middlesbrough.
Middlesbrough Proactive Team responded to an unusual heat source at a residential address on Wellesley Road in Middlesbrough yesterday morning.
The suspicious heat was picked up by the police drone when it was deployed in the area on an unrelated matter.
Officers forced entry to the property and uncovered a large cannabis farm inside.
Police seized 422 plants thought to be worth around £355,000.
Those cultivating the plants were using dangerous electricals, posing a potentially life-threatening fire risk to neighbouring properties
No suspects were located inside of the property, and police enquiries are continuing to find those responsible.
Police have revealed that there has been a major reduction in burglaries across the Cleveland Police area.
Residential burglary has halved in some areas of Cleveland this month, with figures across the whole of Cleveland down by 29% on the same period last year.
Between 22 November and 19 December this year, there were 82 fewer burglaries to people's homes across the Cleveland Police area when compared with the same period last year.
There were also 44 fewer reports when compared with last month - a drop of 18%.
The Redcar and Cleveland area saw the biggest reduction, where the number of burglaries has dropped by 51%.
Participants in this years Boxing Day dip area being reminded that a slipway in Redcar is currently closed and does not give access to the beach.
The slipway opposite Dundas Street in Redcar, nearest to the Redcar Beacon, is closed due to damage sustained from recent named storms.
Boxing Day dippers are advised to access the beach using the alternative slipways located at various points along the Esplanade.
