A man and woman are in hospital with serious injuries following a collision in our area at the weekend.

Cleveland Police reported that the A171 Middlesbrough Road was closed at Flatts Lane on Saturday night due to the collision, which is believed to have occurred close to the Cross Keys pub.

They reported that the incident happened shortly after 7.00pm, and involved a car and two pedestrians.

The pedestrians, a man and a woman, both sustained serious injuries and were taken to hospital.

Controversial proposals to change the car parking arrangements on Marine Parade in Saltburn have been scrapped.

Nearly 2,000 people took part in a public consultation about the proposals, which Redcar & Cleveland Council believed would improve parking arrangements and highway safety, especially during the summer.

The scheme looked to create 90-degree parking spaces to Marine Parade West, by reducing the wide footway.

But after widespread local opposition, including concerns voiced at a public meeting, the promenade car park realignment won't now take place.

Some work IS still set to go ahead, though, including resurfacing the entire promenade, fixing railings and installing electric vehicle charging units.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council is holding another Cost of Living Crisis Community drop-in session in our area today.

The event is taking place at Skelton Civic Hall, today between 9.30am - 11.30am.

Residents are encouraged to pop in and speak to the services, which include Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council Health Improvement, the Warm and Well Team, Trading Standards, and Redcar and Cleveland Citizens Advice.

All the organisations involved will be on hand to offer advice, guidance and support on a range of topics.
