A man has appeared in court after being charged in connection with vehicle crime offences in our area.
At 2.20am on Monday, officers were called to a report of a man trying car doors in the Principal Road and College Gardens area of Redcar.
The 48-year-old man was detained in College Gardens by an off-duty police officer and he was arrested then also questioned about a number of other vehicle crime offences which had been reported to police in the last week.
He was subsequently charged with theft of a motor vehicle, two counts of theft from a motor vehicle, attempted theft from a motor vehicle, no insurance and no licence.
He appeared at Teesside Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
Police are appealing for witnesses and information after an incident involving a motorbike in Hemlington left a man with a broken leg.
The incident happened around 3:30pm on Friday 29th September on the footpath around Hemlington Lake.
A motorbike with three people onboard was being ridden on the public footpath when a family were walking along with their children.
As a result of the man having to pull one of his children out of the way of the oncoming bike, the 39-year-old man suffered a broken leg and was taken to James Cook University Hospital for treatment, where he had surgery to his leg.
The bike rider and two passengers are described as being dressed in camouflage clothing and balaclavas.
Any witnesses or anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident who may have details of the bike or those riding it or a registration number, are asked to contact Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.
A Tesco Express shop in our area has been left with its shop front shattered following an alleged break-in.
Officers were called to the store, on Dixons Bank in Marton, shortly after 2am on Tuesday following reports of a burglary.
Cleveland Police said a suspect allegedly broke into the premises and stole a number of items before fleeing the scene - with enquiries currently ongoing by the force.
