Police are appealing for witnesses following a collision involving a black VW Passat vehicle and a feamle pedestrian.

The collision occurred at around ten past nine on Tuesday evening on Broadwell Road in Easterside.

The woman suffered broken arms and wrists and an injury to her head and is receiving treatment at James Cook University Hospital.

Officers arrested the 27-year-old driver of the vehicle on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and he was taken into custody.

Anyone with information or footage of the collision is asked to contact Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.

A “significant” new development in the form of a data centre could be located at Teesside’s Wilton International complex after broad planning permission was granted.

A 32-acre plot has been earmarked on the decommissioned site of the old Croda chemical works after outline consent from Redcar and Cleveland Council.

The proposals would see multiple ‘data halls’ housed in structures up to two storeys tall, along with a building for a site office and administration function and buildings incorporating two electricity substations and other communications infrastructure - all spread over 157,000 square metres.

Car parking with 150 spaces and 20 cycle spaces, along with landscaping would be further components.

If completed, 60 full-time jobs could be created, along with 250 temporary ones in the construction phase.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council has said that action is being taken following a number of rat sightings in a local park.

Posting on Facebook, the council said it would like to assure residents that they are aware that there has been a number of rat sightings at Locke Park in Redcar and that they are taking immediate action.

The council has requested that residents and visitors refrain from feeding wildlife in the park whilst they deal with the situation.
