The volunteer crew of the Redcar RNLI lifeboat have been called into action in our area.

Just after quarter past six on Friday evening, Redcar's Atlantic 85 lifeboat was launched to carry out a search off Saltburn after an object was spotted floating in the water.

An extensive search was carried out and nothing was found.

The lifeboat then returned to the boathouse after the search was called off.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council have apologised after garden waste was not collected in parts of Guisborough yesterday.

Due to staff shortages, the council were unable to collect garden waste in large parts of Skelton, North Skeleton, Loftus and Lockwood.

Residents are asked to present their garden waste bins first thing tomorrow morning for collection.

The council has thanked residents for their patience and understanding.

The Saltburn Cliff Tramway is to remain out of action until later this week after being forced to close due to an electrical fault.

The fault meant that the tramway, which transports passengers from the beach at Saltburn to the Esplanade above, was closed on Friday afternoon after the fault occurred.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council have now announced that the tramway will remain closed until at least Wednesday whilst part is sourced to rectify the fault.

The council has apologised for any inconvenience caused.
