A man has been arrested following an incident in South Bank at the weekend.

The incident happened at 2pm on Saturday, when police attended an address on Park Avenue in response to a report of violence.

Upon arrival at the property, a police vehicle was smashed with a pole causing significant damage to the windscreen of the vehicle.

A Police Officer was then bitten by a large Malinois dog, sustaining injuries to his leg.

The 27-year-old-man was arrested on suspicion of Common Assault and Battery, Affray and Attempt Section 18 Assault.

He was taken into police custody.

The volunteers of the Redcar RNLI lifeboat were called into action in our area at the weekend.

Just after 6.30pm yesterday the Atlantic 85 lifeboat was launched in response to an incident at the Newport Bridge in Middlesbrough.

The lifeboat was stood down soon after arriving at the scene, and the lifeboat and crew were then able to return to the lifeboat station at Redcar.

Police are appealing to trace the owners of recovered items which appear to have been used in education.

Samples of imitation medication or drugs were recovered in a silver case which could have potentially been stolen from a school or similar establishment.

They can be used to teach pupils how to recognise certain drugs and the negative effects they can have.

The items were recovered in the Netherfields area.

Anyone who may know where the items have come from or may know the owners of them, is asked to contact Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.
