It's been announced that a local MP will succeed Dehenna Davison as a levelling up minister after she quit due to chronic migraines.
Redcar MP Jacob Young will take up the position as parliamentary under secretary of state in the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities.
Mr Young is the first Conservative MP to represent Redcar, elected in the 2019 general election with a majority of 8.7% on a swing of 15.4% from Labour to the Conservatives.
Posting on Facebook, Mr Young said he is looking forward to getting stuck into the new role and bringing some of Teesside right into the heart of the Levelling Up agenda.
He added that it was a very proud day for him, and also for his mam and dad.
