Two men have appeared in court charged in connection with more than 30 alleged offences in our area.
Detectives from Redcar CID, working with colleagues from Redcar & Cleveland Response and Neighbourhood Police Teams, arrested and charged two men following a large number of recent reports of burglary, theft and fraud.
The majority of the theft and commercial burglaries were reported to have occurred in the Guisborough area.
One of the men, aged 35, was charged with 19 offences and attended Teesside Magistrates' Court on Monday from where he was remanded until his next appearance.
The other man, aged 25, was charged with 14 offences and he appeared at Teesside Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
It's been announced that a major retailer on Redcar High Street is to close its doors.
Administrators at PwC have confirmed that the Wilko store in Redcar will close next Tuesday, the 19th September.
The retailer has announced 124 more stores across the country which will also be closing next week, after administrators failed to secure a deal from any suitor to buy the business.
Wilko has been a British high-street staple for over 90 years, selling everything from homeware and garden items to household goods.
The iconic Saltburn Cliff Tramway has scooped a major seaside award.
The popular attraction - which has been delighting tourists at the seaside town since its opening in 1884 - has beaten off stiff seaside competition to be crowned favourite seaside place and experience in the Seaside Heritage Networks first ever annual top ten Bucket and Spade list.
The lift is the oldest water-balanced cliff ‘funicular’ still in operation in Great Britain and the second oldest in the world.
The award win saw the tramway beat the likes of the Blackpool Tower and Morecambe Winter Gardens to claim the top spot.
