A man has appeared in court and denied two dangerous dog charges in our area.

50-year-old John Pickering will now stand trial accused of being in charge of two XL bully dogs who allegedly injured a person and another dog on Redcar beach on February 5th this year.

38-year-old Nicola Banks faces the same charges, but on Monday the court heard that she was too unwell to attend.

Mr Pickering, of Eastwood Road in Middlesbrough, pleaded "not guilty" to the dangerous dog charges.

He was remanded in custody.

Ms Banks, who is also from Middlesbrough, is now due to attend court to face her charges on September 18th.

A man has been left in hospital after an alleged attack in Grangetown.

Officers were called to Somerset Road on Sunday afternoon following reports that a man had been assaulted.

The man was found with a large laceration to his leg and another laceration to his left arm, and was taken to the James Cook University Hospital where his injuries were deemed not to be life-threatening.

Cleveland Police have now launched a probe into the incident, asking anyone with information to get in touch with them on the non-emergency number 101.

Police are appealing for information after a Rolls Royce was set alight.

The incident occurred at around 1.30am on Wednesday 30th August whilst the black Rolls Royce Wraith was parked on a driveway in Bridlewoods on Brass Castle Lane in Middlesbrough.

A man dressed in black and wearing a balaclava approached on a motorbike and set the vehicle on fire.

Anyone with information, CCTV, dashcam footage or doorbell footage is asked to contact police on 101.
