A man has been arrested after a spate of garage and shed burglaries in Guisborough.

Detectives from Redcar CID arrested a 44-year-old man yesterday morning in connection with a series of break-ins in the town over the past few weeks.

It was reported that gardening equipment, outdoor games and an e-bike were amongst the items stolen.

The man is due to be questioned by officers and enquiries are on-going.

The volunteers of the Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team have been called into action in our area.

At 9.15pm on Monday the team were asked to go to the aid of a cyclist who had reportedly suffered a serious leg injury on Eston Nab.

Both team Land Rovers and a number of team members were dispatched from various locations.

However, approximately 30-minutes later they were stood down as the casualty had been located by ambulance personnel.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council have warned residents of potential disruption as the demolition of Temperance Square in Loftus is set to begin.

The existing buildings, on the corner of the main junction known locally as "Forbuoys Corner", are to be demolished to make way for a brand-new Employment and Skills Hub.

The aim of the project is to reduce unemployment numbers within Loftus and wider East Cleveland, encourage new business start-ups and increase the number of training and skills courses on offer.

Over the course of the works there will be some temporary disruption to the high street and local area.

It is anticipated that the major works will be concluded by the end of summer.
