A man has been charged in connection with an alleged assault in a village in our area.

Cleveland Police have charged the 29-year-old man with an attempted section 18 assault and GBH, following the incident in Lazenby on Thursday.

He has been remanded in custody.

The alleged assault took place at around 11.15pm in Pasture Lane.

A 59-year-old man suffered serious injury and was taken to hospital, but was later released.

The volunteer crews of the Redcar RNLI lifeboat were called into action in our area.

Just before quarter to eight on Friday evening, both Redcar lifeboats were launched to assist in observations at Huntcliff at Saltburn.

Boats returned to the lifeboat station after nothing was found.

It was an exciting weekend for cycling fans as the British National Road Championships came to Redcar and Cleveland.

The road races, which started and finished in Saltburn yesterday, challenged riders with steep gradients and tight hairpin bends.

Both the mens and womens followed an 18.8km loop, and passed through many East Cleveland villages, Skelton Castle, old mining sites in Kilton, and the coast at Saltburn before finishing at Saltburn Bank.

The ladies race was won by Pfeiffer Georgi, whilst the mens race was won by Fred Wright.
