...and it's Armed Forces Day in Redcar today, and this year's is set to be the loudest one yet!
Police are appealing for information following an incident in Lazenby on Thursday.
At approximately 11.15pm a 59-year-old man sustained serious injuries following an assault on Pasture Lane.
He was taken to hospital but has since been released.
A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding, making threats to kill, criminal damage and common assault.
Detectives investigating the incident are appealing for information including any doorbell, dashcam or CCTV footage from the Grange Estate and Pasture Lane around the time which may have captured the incident.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.
Two new Redcar attractions open to the public this weekend.
The 18-hole adventure golf course, Frosty Penguin’s Putting Adventure, and the nautical-themed play area on Coatham seafront will accept their first visitors today.
The projects are part of a scheme to transform Coatham seafront into a family destination, bringing residents and visitors together where they can spend quality time.
The car park on the old Bowl site has also opened and the recreational area has just recently been seeded.
Members of the public can look forward to a round of golf with all the family, and refreshments are available at the site.
It's Armed Forces Day in Redcar today, and this year's is set to be the loudest one yet!
Taking place on Redcar High Street, the day is hosted by Zetland FM's Jeremy Gartland, and will officially open at 10.15am with a parade of military personnel, both past and present.
There is a whole day of activities taking place, including the North-East based re-enactment group Whizz Bangs and Sounds of the Battlefield who will be carrying out the firing demonstration covering the British and American World War II era.
There will also be numerous static displays of weapons and military vehicles.
The event, which concludes at 4pm, is organised by Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council in partnership with Royal British Legion Redcar Branch and Rotary Club.
