Police are investigating a report of burglary after two motorbikes were stolen in Brotton.

The incident happened on Skelton Road around 3am last Sunday.

Two males are believed to have gained entry to a garage and stolen a number of items, believed to be worth thousands of pounds.

The items included a white KTM motorbike with Redbull branding and a red and white BETA 300cc trials motorbike 2017 model.

Anyone with information regarding those responsible or the whereabouts of the stolen motorbikes is asked to contact Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.

It's been announced that a coastal path in our area used by tens of thousands of people each year is to be improved to make walking along steeper sections easier.

The decision to add stones along the coastal path, which is part of the national Cleveland Way and runs south from Saltburn, was made following a regular six month inspection by the Council and the National Trails Officer.

The Council and its partners ensure the path is as safe as possible to use.

Signage and fencing is in place at various points along the route to enable safe use of the path without spoiling the natural appeal of these wild and remote areas.

Drivers are being urged to take extra time to keep their vehicles safe after a spate of thefts across the area.

Some of the incidents involve thieves targeting unlocked vehicles and making off with valuables that have been left inside while others have had their cars stolen and taken out the area.

Police are working together with the North East Regional Organised Crime Unit to analyse data, search through CCTV and carry out targeted patrols in communities to take action against those believed to be responsible.

In addition, officers are urging drivers to work with them to deter opportunistic thieves.

Police advice is to ensure your car doors and windows are locked and that no valuables are left inside your vehicle, and to keep your key as far away from your front door and vehicle as possible.
