A man has been arrested on suspicion of two counts of burglary in connection with incidents on Christmas Day in Brotton and Loftus.
Police received reports of two ram raids at Co-op in Loftus and Spar in Brotton on Christmas Day morning at around 7:45am.
Extensive damage was caused to both shops.
Both incidents involved a white Transit van and officers said at the time that they believed the incidents were linked.
The 42-year-old man has been released on bail whilst enquiries continue.
A dispersal order has been put in place for the next two days in response to a recent increase in incidents of antisocial behaviour in Berwick Hills.
The order will run from 5pm yesterday until 5pm tomorrow in order to prevent youths from congregating around Norfolk shops, the Neptune Centre and Morrisons.
Police say that they have received reports of youths gathering outside of the shops and refusing to move, throwing items at passing traffic and being abusive to customers and staff working in the shops.
The dispersal order will enable officers to break up large groups by giving police the power to direct those suspected of acting in an antisocial manner to leave the area.
Police have seized cannabis plants estimated to be worth up to £175,000 at a property in Whinney Banks.
Officers from the Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Policing Team attended a property on Bethune Road and discovered the cannabis plants, following information from the public.
Associated drugs paraphernalia was also recovered.
Enquiries are continuing in order to locate those responsible.
Anyone with information regarding drugs activity in their local area is asked to call Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.
