A busy road had to be closed by police after a suspected serious road accident yesterday.

Cleveland Police officers closed Park Vale Road, near to Albert Road in Middlesbrough, at around 5.20pm.

Authorities are yet to give details about the nature of the incident but a police collision investigation unit was among those at the scene with officers seen carrying out investigations within the cordon.

The road was closed between the crossroads with Park Road North and the roundabout with Park Road North, with police officers stopping traffic and pedestrians from travelling along the route.

A smaller section of the road was also taped off by officers, with the focus of the investigation around half way along the route.

A road had to be closed after a car smashed into a bollard - and ended up perched on top.

The incident on Homerton Road, Pallister Park saw the vehicle hit the traffic post with such force, it mounted it and got stuck.

The front of the car was damaged from the crash as onlookers described hearing a loud bang.

Cleveland Police closed the road following the incident yesterday afternoon, erecting a cordon while they dealt with the car.

Residents in our area are being asked for their opinions on a proposed move for Redcar library.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council are proposing to move Redcar Library from the ground floor of Redcar and Cleveland House to a new location within the ground floor of TunedIn! on Majuba Road in Redcar.

The move would be on a temporary basis, until mid 2025, when the library would be moved to a brand new facility in Redcar Town Centre, as part of the Redcar Town Deal development.

The council are inviting residents to give their views on the proposal and would like to hear your thoughts on the planned design, any suggestions on what you would like to see at the new venue and also any concerns that you may want to raise.
