A popular micro-bar in our area has been forced to close its doors days before Christmas after a car reversed into the wall at high speed.
Just as the preparations for the busiest time of the year begin, The Smuggler's Den, in Marske, is no longer able to open.
At around 11.40am on Wednesday, a car from the church opposite propelled into the micro-bar's side wall leaving a large hole.
No one was in the building at the time of the incident and the driver of the vehicle is understood to have escaped unscathed.
Due to the impact of the crash, the structural integrity of the bar is now in question, with insurers coming out to assess the extent of the damage in the coming days.
Police are appealing for witnesses and information, following a serious collision in Middlesbrough.
The incident occurred at around 5.50pm on Thursday on Marshall Avenue and involved a black Audi and a motorcycle.
Both the male rider and female pillion passenger on the motorcycle suffered a number of injuries and were taken to James Cook University Hospital.
They both remain in hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the Audi, a 38-year-old woman, has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or may have dashcam or CCTV footage to contact them on the non-emergency number 101.
A knitted Christmas tree is now on display in Ormesby thanks to the hard work of local volunteers.
The Ormesby Library Knitters helped create the 11-foot tree by knitting hundreds of squares which are wrapped around a wooden frame, built by local resident George Brook.
The tree is located on the grass verge just above the A174 flyover and it is hoped the structure will be a Christmas feature for years to come.
Ward members for Ormesby, Councillors Carole Morgan and Irene and Glyn Nightingale contributed their time to the project.
