Another piece of the former Redcar steelworks has been razed to the ground in an explosive demolition.
Just after 7pm yesterday evening the of the 105-metre-high concrete chimney of the Sinter Plant was demolished.
This comes just months after the bulk of the Sinter Plant was brought down in August, including the Screenhouse and strand parts of the facility, which accounted for 60% of the overall structure.
The initial phase of the demolition was carried out in June to bring down the Bunker Bay, which saw experts use 100kg of explosives between 130 separate charge locations and resulted in more than 5,000 tonnes of scrap steel.
A wooden owl has been returned by neighbourhood officers after it was reported stolen from the Skelton area around a month ago.
Neighbourhood Police Team officers attending an address in the Redcar and Cleveland area on an unrelated matter located the stolen owl and returned it to one of the local Councillors.
The wooden owls are a feature in Skelton and surrounding areas Skelton Green and Boosbeck, with the structures mounted onto 'welcome' sign posts around the community.
Enquiries into the theft are currently ongoing.
It's Armistice Day today, with people all across our area expected to observe a two minutes silence at 11 this morning.
The volunteers of the Redcar British Legion will be on the High Street this morning with a stall and poppies available for purchase.
The parade will form up at approximately 1050 and we will commence with a short service of Remembrance by Rev. Rebecca Haughty at 1055 before the two minutes silence takes place at 11.
Members of the public are more than welcome to attend to pay their respects.
