Cleveland Police have issued an update on an incident of arson involving a seafront shelter in Redcar.

The shelter was deliberately set alight on the evening of 10th October and police began an investigation into the incident.

Following an appeal for information, the town's Neighbourhood Officers soon identified two boys aged 12 and 14 as being responsible for the fire.

The children were interviewed by police and were then referred to the Youth Offending Team.

The volunteers of the Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team were called out to Roseberry Topping yesterday.

Just before 11am the team were contacted by North Yorkshire Police after a walker reported seeing a climber, potentially in difficulties and unable to move on the south-west crag face of Roseberry Topping.

After speaking to the caller the team's call-out officer deployed three Team members using one of the team Land Rovers in order to make an initial assessment.

However, after checking the area and speaking to various people on and around Roseberry Topping, nothing untoward was found and they were able to stand-down.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council have announced a lane closure will be in place for up to a fortnight on a busy main road in our area.

Due to a leakage on the westbound A174 Lazenby bypass which has caused movement in the carriageway leaving the left-hand lane unsafe to use, an emergency temporary lane closure has been put into operation which is expected to be in place until at least the middle of next week.

The permanent lights on Kirkleatham Roundabout have neem temporarily turned off to try and ease traffic congestion, however motorists are being advised that delays are expected at peak times.
