Police have named a teenager who died in a collision in Redcar on Tuesday.

16-year-old Alfie Rowe sadly died following a motorbike crash on Cotswold Drive in the town, not far from Malvern Avenue.

The collision occurred around 11.30pm on Tuesday evening.

Alfie's parents have described him as a "much loved son and grandson" who will be "sorely missed by all of his family.”

Mourners have since laid many colourful tributes at the scene.

An 18-year-old also suffered serious injuries in the ordeal, and remains in a critical condition in hospital.

Officers in Middlesbrough are appealing for information after a man stole cash from the till in two separate incidents at a pizza shop in Brambles Farm.

At around 25 past 9 on Wednesday 5th October evening a male - described as slim, 6ft tall, with short brown hair and a thin, jaw line beard, wearing a black North Face jacket and blue jogging bottoms – entered Princess Pizza at Shelton Court Shops and asked for food, telling staff that he had no money.

When staff refused, he climbed over the counter, opened the till and stole cash before fleeing the shop.

A week later, twenty five to ten on Wednesday this week, a male - wearing all black, with a hoody tightly pulled up over his head and face so that only his eyes could be seen has entered the shop with what appears to be a gun hidden beneath his clothing, climbed over the counter and demanded that staff open the till.

Staff refused, and the male made off when a customer entered the pizza shop.

Police are linking both incidents and asking anyone with information to contact them on the non-emergency number 101.

Drivers are being warned of a closure at a main junction in our area.

Work on the improvements at Swan's Corner at Nunthorpe is progressing well and Esh Construction intend to undertake resurfacing work this weekend under a full road closure.

Road closures will be in place from 8am on Saturday until 8pm on Sunday to allow the resurfacing work to take place safely.

Signage will be in place to advise motorists of the closure and the diversion routes in place.
