Police have named a 22-year-old man who sadly died at the weekend after an alleged incident in Grangetown on Thursday night.

22-year-old local man Lewis Ward was struck by a car as he rode an e-scooter on Birchington Avenue.

Lewis' heartbroken family have said he was a much-loved son, brother, uncle and friend to many and that they have been left devastated by his death.

Two men, aged 21 and 22, have been arrested in connection with the incident and were taken into police custody.

A 30-year-old woman has also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

A Redcar man is to appear in court later today charged with alleged vehicle offences.

The 37-year-old man has been charged in connection with four alleged vehicle offences in the town.

These include reports of attempted theft, theft from a vehicle and vehicle interference.

The man is due to appear at Teesside Magistrates' Court later today.

Officers are appealing for information after a woman was attacked by a dog in Redcar.

The incident happened at around 1pm last Wednesday, on the grassed area near to Redcar Town Football Club and the Trunk Road, when the large bull mastiff dog attempted to attack the lady's Shih Tzu dog, then knocked the woman over and bit her.

The woman was left with an injury to her hand as a result of the attack.

The owner of the Bull Mastiff is a male described as around 6ft tall, aged between 30 and 40 years old, with a grey beard, and also had a Labrador and a small retriever type dog with him.

Witnesses to the incident, or anyone with information, are asked to contact police on the non-emergency number 101.
