Police are appealing for the public's help after a robbery on the A174.

At around 1am on Tuesday, a dark coloured car collided with an orange Zontes Panther motorcycle outside Boulby Potash Mine on the A174, knocking off the rider.

One of the passengers in the car then got out, took the bike and rode off towards Loftus, followed by the car.

Police are appealing for anyone with dash cam footage, or anyone with information on this incident, to contact them on the non-emergency number 101.

Drivers were hit with rush-hour delays after a major road was closed by police following a crash on a key route near Redcar.

The single-vehicle accident involved a black Mitsubishi on the A174 near Wilton Road at around 4pm on Wednesday.

The crash on the westbound carriageway caused the closure of the route between Kirkleatham and Greystones roundabouts for around an hour.

A second crash, involving at least two vehicles, took place shortly afterwards on the eastbound carriageway, directly opposite the location of the first crash.

One lane was blocked, causing further delays eastbound, with traffic back to the Greystones roundabout.

Police were at the scene around 4.45pm, with the incident appearing to be a shunt and no-one seriously injured.

Drivers are being reminded of resurfacing work which will close a busy junction in our area over the next two weekends.

Work on the improvements at Swan's Corner in Nunthorpe is progressing well and Esh Construction intend to undertake resurfacing work this weekend and next weekend under a full road closure.

Road closures will be in place from 8am on each Saturday until 8pm on each Sunday on these dates to allow the resurfacing work to take place safely.

Signage will be in place to advise motorists of the closure and the diversion routes in place.
