King Charles III has been proclaimed as monarch in a ceremony in Redcar yesterday.
Charles III was formally announced as king on Saturday morning during a ceremony at St James's Palace, London, with further proclamations taking place up and down the country over the weekend, including here in Redcar and Cleveland
Crowds gathered in the memorial garden on Coatham Road in the town to see the Mayor of Redcar and Cleveland, Councillor Stuart Smith, perform the age-old ceremony.
The volunteers of the Redcar lifeboat have been called into action in our area after a person got into difficulties at Saltburn.
Just after twenty to one on Saturday morning the Atlantic 85 lifeboat was launched to assost a person in difficulty at Huntcliffe with an ankle injury.
The person was initially reported as having been cut off by the tide, however the lifeboat was launched and found the casualty to be on the Saltburn side of the cut off point.
The lifeboat crew then stood by while the Coastguard walked to the casualty and helped them back to Saltburn.
Members of the public were warned to keep their distance after a dead minke whale washed up on Redcar beach at the weekend.
The mammal was spotted early on Saturday morning, and the British Divers Marine Life Rescue sent a medic down to take measurements and also notified Redcar and Cleveland Council, who then attended the scene.
It's believe the whale had been dead for some time before being washed up.
Arrangements were made to remove the dead mammal from the beach.
