Motorists suffered delays after a serious crash on the A19 led to the closure of the route northbound.

Emergency services attended the smash which occurred close to the turn off with the A174 Parkway at around 1.20pm on Tuesday.

Initial reports suggested the crash involved two cars and a van.

The A19 was closed northbound following the accident between A174 at Thornaby to the Mandale Interchange.

Traffic was diverted via the entry and exit slip roads.

Neighbourhood policing officers in Redcar are appealing for the public's help to trace the owner of a recovered bicycle.

Whilst on patrol on Monday morning in the town centre area of Redcar, officers recovered a bike that they suspect may have been stolen recently.

The bike is black with a distinctive white seat and green trim.
