Pollution warnings for some of our area's most popular beaches have been issued, with people being advised NOT to swim in the sea;
Police have released images of 26 bikes believed to be related to an incident that saw a large group of anti-social bikers drive around the streets of Redcar and Middlesbrough;
...and members of the public are being invited to an information roadshow to find out more about the Tour of Britain cycle race which comes to our area next month.
Pollution warnings for some of our area's most popular beaches have been issued, with people being advised NOT to swim in the sea.
Visitors to Saltburn and Marske Sands have been advised to avoid the water because of high pollution levels.
According to Safer Seas Service's interactive water quality map, water quality is also affected by "storm sewage" at Saltburn, Marske and Redcar Coatham due to an overflow nearby.
The site explains that heavy rainfall may also affect the waters further north at Seaton Carew due to potential sewage overflow.
The news comes days after a 'do not swim' warning being issued further down the coast at Robin Hood's Bay on Wednesday last week.
Police have released images of 26 bikes believed to be related to an incident that saw a large group of anti-social bikers drive around the streets of Redcar and Middlesbrough.
The large group of around 50 people, made their way around Middlesbrough and Redcar earlier this month.
Calls were made for arrests by Middlesbrough Mayor Andy Preston, and Steve Turner, the Police and Crime Commissioner for Cleveland, added that the "appalling and mindless" behaviour would not go unpunished.
Cleveland Police has now confirmed a total of 12 males have been arrested in connection with the incident thus far, with warrants carried out last Saturday in both areas where the incident took place.
Chief Inspector Wendy Tinkler has branded the behaviour as "unacceptable" as the force continues its investigation.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the bikes or those who may be riding off-road bikes or may be storing them is asked to call Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.

Stage 4 of the race, featuring some of the best cyclists in the world, kicks off in Redcar on Wednesday 7th Sept before passing through Marske, Saltburn, Skelton, Brotton, Carlin How, Loftus and Easington.
