Police are reminding residents to ensure that vehicles are secured and items of value removed after a number of thefts from vehicles over the weekend in Redcar.

Incidents took place between 9am on Friday and 7am on Sunday on a number of streets in the West Dyke and Zetland areas.

Items including loose change, sunglasses, house keys, a laptop, an amplifier, a handbag, mobile phones and a wallet containing a bank card which has been used to spend over £150 were taken.

Anyone who may have information regarding these incidents is asked to contact Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.

The thought-provoking Knife Angel sculpture has arrived at Kirkleatham.

The sculpture which is made up of 100,000 seized knives has travelled the length and breadth of the country and was secured for a stint in this area thanks to the efforts of The Chris Cave Foundation.

Founded in 2005 by Theresa Cave, in the name of her son who was stabbed to death in 2003, The Chris Cave Foundation provides education and outreach to communities affected by violent crimes.

Standing at 27ft tall the sculpture is a powerful piece of contemporary art and works to make people consider the issues around knife crime and asks people to think of those whose lives have been affected.

Our area is celebrating after two of our green spaces were officially recognised as being amongst the country’s best yet again.

Keep Britain Tidy’s Green Flag Award was given to Flatts Lane Woodland Country Park and Guisborough Branch Walkway last week, amongst 2208 winning locations from across the UK.

The award demands very high standards and is the international quality mark for parks and green spaces.

The Green Flag Award scheme, managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy under licence from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for the management of green spaces across the United Kingdom and around the world.
