The volunteers of the Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team have been called into action in our area at the weekend.
The North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust contacted the team yesterday afternoon regarding a young patient who they were attending to in the Eston Hills area, as they required the team's assistance to transport her to an ambulance.
The patient was secured within a vacuum mattress and lifted onto a rescue stretcher.
Once loaded into one of the team's Land Rovers, she was transported to the rendez-vous point and transferred to a waiting ambulance for onward treatment in hospital.
A man has been charged and remanded in connection with two alleged offences of possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and possession of criminal property.
The first alleged offence is as a result of a stop search by officers on Parliament Road on Saturday, where 23 bags of suspected crack cocaine were recovered.
The second is as a result of a previous alleged offence when a drugs warrant was executed at Meath Street.
Police enquiries have enabled us to charge a 35-year-old man in connection with both alleged offences and he will be appearing at court later this morning.
Fire engines at stations across the Cleveland area will be turning alarm lights on for two minutes to “go blue” in support of World Drowning Prevention Day today.
Drowning in the UK is amongst the leading causes of accidental death and the dangers are heightened during school holidays and the hotter summer days.
Young people are most vulnerable, as many are unaware of the dangers of jumping into cold water in hot weather and are prone to taking risks in unsafe waters without adults around.
Brigade crews will also be linking up with RNLI and coastguards to issue #RespectTheWater messages.
