Police are appealing for information after an armed robbery in Grangetown at the weekend.

The incident took place at the Whale Hill Post Office on Birchington Avenue in Grangetown.

A man threatened staff members with a weapon and stole a substantial amount of cash from the till.

Thankfully although left shaken, no one was injured during the incident.

The suspect is described as white, around 6 feet tall, of medium build and wearing a head covering with holes for the nose, eyes and mouth.

He had a black plasticky coat with the hood up and it's described as black at the top, fading into grey further down.

He was also wearing grey tracksuit bottoms and black gloves.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.

A man has been arrested after his car crashed into a barrier at a busy junction yesterday morning.

Just before 7.30am yesterday police attended a crash near the cross roads at Brambles Farm in Middlesbrough, after a car collided with a barrier and ended up on its side.

A man in his 20s was arrested and recovery work was arranged.

The car was left on its side with extensive damage to the vehicle and barrier.

The crash led to huge rush-hour queues, and enquiries into the circumstances of the collision are underway.

The volunteers of the Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team have been called into action in our area.

The team were contacted by North Yorkshire Police on Sunday evening to help search the Carlton Bank area for a missing person.

Weather conditions were poor due to a mixture of limited visibility in fog and heavy rain.

The volunteer Team members were split into four teams and allocated various search areas as agreed with the police.

Three hours after being called out the team were stood-down by the police as the missing person had thankfully been found safe and well at another location.
